possession

I am not sure when it
started to stop being about
possession–

when it ceased to be about
me belonging to you
belonging to me,
belonging to each other only;

when it ceased to be about
where you are and who
you’re with and what you’re doing;

when it ceased to be about
tomorrow night or next week,
next month or next time.

It is no longer about
possession or obligation;
now it is about
connection, the melting together,
the moment.
