the whiteness of the wall

i can tell that she will confront it with me,
the vast blankness; we will confront it together.

i can tell by the way she stares
that she is not afraid.

she sees something there, in the emptiness
which is not, and never really is.

there is always something there
to be found, waiting for discovery
and life to be breathed into it
through our pulsing eyes.

our eyes create
as much as our mouths,
our tongues, our hands.
