“all the good food will be gone”

dear mother
afraid for my tastebuds
and my belly
it’s alright
if i don’t get
all the
tasty bits
of our all-day
potluck

i’m not visiting
for the food
that’s
just a bonus

even though
this holiday
surrounded by
consumption
provided
the occasion.
