caught up in love, the sound of sirens in the background

all night in the city

long bike rides without
adequate lighting

dark boulevards
all to myself

secret parking spots
and midnight donuts

the sound of music
still ringing in my ears

embraces echoing in my chest

the weight of
microphones, speakers,
cables in my hands

coconut beef and
cornbread bibingka
lingering on my tongue

this is what
some of the best years
i’ve lived
left me with
at the end of many
very special tuesday nights

observing what it is like
to love something
and to do it
and to keep doing it
to love the doing
and the something

to invite others in
to the loving
and the doing
and to love them

that sharing
time and space
grows our hearts
exponentially
across state lines
and continents
