pour

i daresay
we spend too much time
worrying about
pouring too much
into one another
too much time
holding beauty back
for fear that
what we release
will not find
a vessel

if what
you pour
does not land
where
you hoped

if your sweetness
does not find a place
inside the
intended heart

it is not lost

there is
still grace

nothing really
ever disappears
in this universe

and those pieces
that may seem lost to you
will find ways to
knit themselves
into starlight
or wildflowers

or a sudden warm breeze
brushing against
the back of your neck
turning you around
to meet eyes

which make you
unafraid to open again

which remind you
how much sweetness
there is inside you
and everywhere

which offer you
theirs
